More thoughts

I feel like my entire Tumblr account is about Deidara and it’s all I talk about. I’ve just been in a Deidara kick lately.

But this always bothered me with a lot of people. It irks me that people mistake Deidara as a female. When I first saw him I did not mistake him for being a girl. I knew right away that he was a guy.

is it perhaps because it appears that he looks like he wears eyeliner and that his nails are painted black and and because he has long flowing hair? Is that really the reason?

I dunno this just always bothered me.

Does this bug anyone else or is it just me?

catspotatoesandanime

It always kind of bothered me too because I felt like people were misgendering Deidara on purpose because they thought it was funny. They thought it was funny because they think femininity in men is shameful or that people who don’t present or “pass” as their gender identity aren’t “real” enough to be respected. They saw Deidara with long hair and make-up and decided his appearance made him less of a man.

if youve never physically been in the presence of like, a real live wolf, and you probably wont get the chance to, heres some stuff about them you should know

  • a wolf’s fur is so unbelievably thick that you can get like, your whole hand into it while petting. and then you can keep going
  • wolves are a lot bigger than you think they are. think about how big you think a wolf is then just like double that
  • they dont really smell like dog but they DO smell and youre not going to be able to figure out if its a good smell or not
  • a wolf really wants to lick the inside of your mouth. he will not stop trying to lick the inside of your mouth at any cost, and generally speaking you need to press your lips together kind of tightly when he approaches your face so that he doesnt worm his damn tongue in there to give you what he thinks is an appropriate greeting
  • a wolf doesnt really want to look at you while you pet him but he wants you to pet him. hes embarrassed
  • if a grown ass wolf decides to lay down on you, you just have to deal with it and thats your life now
  • young wolves, much like young dogs, are overwhelmingly goofy and stupid. a teenage wolf will see your very fragile, very human shoulder and go “i can probably step on that with my full weight” and then he will do it
  • letting a wolf eat out of your hand is actually not remotely frightening, and youll want to do it all day

In the Italian city of Verona, local street artist Cibo paints colorful wall art full of appetizing food over neo-nazi graffiti (x)

lif-yeah

“It’s my civic duty, and my right … honestly I feel like have a right to cover [erase] these kinds of things. Since I’m doing a public form of art, I have to take care of my city and … it’s like my own art gallery. How do you explain a swastika to a child? How do you do it? It’s impossible. It’s a racist message. And it’s not okay .”

You live in a world where everyone experiences phantom pains from how they will die. These pains will go from barely noticeable to whatever degree they would be under the circumstances of one’s death the closer they get to it. Of course, the pain varies for everyone. Someone who dies from a gunshot wound won’t feel the same pain as someone who dies from an infection.

But you? You’ve never felt this ‘phantom pain’, and you’re starting to wonder if you ever will.

It’s not just Tumblr, people. This shit is getting ridiculous.

lunariagold

Of course it’s not Tumblr!

They came for Craigslist personals first because that’s the oldest trick in the book: Sneakily taking down the ‘perverts’ under the guise of vague, high morality goals and working slowly up from the bottom, picking off larger and larger targets. Few people cared about CL because of the stereotype of scary unwashed creeps trawling for sex online. That wasn’t so familiar or cute so it was fair game.

Tumblr is biting at the ‘artists’ heels and suddenly there is a bit more noise, because artists aren’t supposed to be treated like shit, are they? However even now the hair-splitting over what’s porn and therefore garbage and not-art shows that attitudes are not so different. It’s still the same divisive, dangerous us v.s. them mentality that is so easily exploited.

This is why when people tell me I shouldn’t worry about this because ‘my art isn’t porn anyway’ it makes me angry. It means so much more than drawings or a silly blog. This is about people being slowly phased out of their freedoms, rights and agency. History has shown time and time again that whenever power wants to make a crushing move backwards, it comes for what it declares ‘obscene’ first. People are raised to be scared and ignorant of sex so it’s an easy gateway. When they come cracking down on sex is when we most need to pay very close attention. They are not protecting us.

Also do you really want to leave it up to potentially homophobic, racist, sexist, ignorant, etc. to ultimately decide what is or isn’t art?

They declare something obscene but not illegal. Therefore, technically you can still produce it and you won’t be charged or arrested for producing… You just can’t put it on public display (which can range from being a store to being on sites like tumblr, etc.)

As fun as it is to make fun of being horny on main and that horny people like myself have no rights there is a bigger and larger picture to this than just whether or not you can look at porn. People who call others porn addicted freaks, cumbrains, make fun of others for their kinks/fetishes, etc. and act like people are only mad because they can’t get their “fix” are part of the problem. They fail to see the larger picture that this is a domino effect. It’s all fun and games watching horny people get removed until lawmakers decide that they’re gonna crack down on you next using the same logic and method that they got rid of porn.

And websites and corporations, unless they are truly dedicated to actually fighting it, will just go along with it to protect their own profits and save themselves from lawsuits without regard to you as a user.

The absolute vagueness of the law makes it to where if sex trafficking (of the actual illegal kind I’m assuming, not the kind where girls are selling nudes on snapchat and shit) is found on a website, the website is held legally responsible even if it is against TOS and it was something that didn’t look like sex trafficking. People that engage in that kind of shit are not above throwing other people under the bus. It’s why Facebook updated it’s content policy to where you pretty much can’t mention sex or anything related to sex at all. If it is something that can even be considered remotely sexual, it’s getting the axe.

What does this mean?

No more talk about bodily anatomy, you could be asking and soliciting for sex.

LGBT+ topics? Forget about it. “It’s too obscene and sexual”

Safe sex? Nope. You obviously are asking to have sex with someone.

Drawing people of the same sex kissing? Obviously, this is some type of code for sexual solicitation.

Sexual orientation headcanons? Nope obviously this “headcanon” term means “I want a sexual partner who fits this.” and this character represents what they look for in a sexual partner.

Hell, you can’t even joke with your friends that you wanna netflix and chill tonight because it is considered sexual slang.

This is what these laws are doing

Websites and corporations would rather scrub anything even so much as mentioning sex than to deal with a potential lawsuit from the state or anyone really because some scumbag human decided to use their services for actual sex trafficking and slavery.

Of course… they don’t actually make it illegal to search for willing sex partners and fetishes, discuss LGBT topics and safe sex, etc. they just make it to where you can’t really do it anywhere because it could be code for sexual trafficking and pimps and people who force others into sexual slavery aren’t absolute idiots. They’ll come up with new code words, terms, etc. that potentially throw LGBT+ people, minorities, and innocent people under the bus because they probably didn’t give a damn about them to start. Hell, you may not even be able to do the 💦🍆 emojis anymore because they may think you’re asking for sexual favors and soliciting for sex.

And yet somehow these new laws completely miss the mark of pimps and people who kidnap others and force them into sexual slavery and trafficking but hit just about everyone else and the only people happy about them are only the people who think those “porn-addicted freaks” and “gross ddlg” blogs are getting the axe and think that they should be gone from the site anyways.

But no.

You too are getting the axe along with anyone who creates anything that could be potentially obscene or “sexual solicitation” and you should have absolutely no trust or faith in websites, companies, and advertisers who just go along with it because they care more to protect their profits than to fight a bogus law and no amount of “But we actually support LGBT, sex workers, minorities, etc.” will fix it… they’ll just say it as good PR while making up an excuse to axe and scrub out anything related to them to abide by the law or appease advertisers.

This is why sites like AO3 are important… They actually have lawyers and actually, give a fuck about protecting content and aren’t chasing the pennies of advertising companies or idiot lawmakers who have no idea the depth or degree that the internet actually functions.

Advertising companies and idiot lawmakers who have no idea (or don’t care tbh) that they’re only hurting fandom creators, they’ll only hurting LGBT+ people and minorities, etc. and they’ll say that “they care and want to promote nothing but love and support” for the community but then go around basically making it to where those people cannot have a platform by making it to where websites are legally held responsible for any content that is hosted (even if it is against the websites TOS to host that content) and then those websites scrub any mention of sex or sexuality or anything that could even vaguely reference it because they don’t want to be sued.

They aren’t deplatforming people in a way that is illegal. They’re taking the legal loophole to deplatform people and whether they realize they’re doing it or not, hitting and deplatforming minorities, artists, etc.

tl;dr: There is a larger picture here other than just horny people have no rights and it is that anyone who creates anything that even vaguely mentions or references sexuality or sex regardless of context could be getting scrubbed.
